Street food and Christmas market, a Bratislava combination
The Slovak capital is currently experiencing a street food boom, offering a large variety of take-aways. Tasting dishes of Slovak or foreign cuisine on offer could be a unique experience when paired with attending the upcoming pre-Christmas programs in the city.

Visitors to Bratislava can look forward to real street food every month at the event ‘Street Food Park’, which regularly brings together street food sellers in front of the Old Market. The choice of delicacies is especially wide in the period leading up to Christmas when the atmosphere is perfectly complemented by traditional music programs and ice rinks in the city center.

Specialties of street-food include lokša, a dense salty pancake that also can be served as a sweet goodie; goose, which is traditional in the autumn and winter season; cigánska pečienka (Roma-styled roasted pork), a bun filled with chicken or pork meat, onion and mustard; potato pancake; strudels filled with poppy, curd or raisins; mead, which is honey wine with a unique flavor and is full of vitamins; mulled wine; punch (including non-alcohol varieties).

In addition to gastronomy, visitors can also treat themselves to home-made products and traditional souvenirs like scented candles, fur hats and scarves, handmade wooden toys, jewelry, books, and much more.

While eating and shopping those attending the Bratislava Christmas Market can enjoy musical and dance performances, including children folk ensembles, local and acapella singers or foreign music groups.
