At the opening ceremony, held in Warsaw, Hungarian pianist Ádám György performed along with an international group of dancers. 800 dancers from 63 countries participated in the dance show with a piano placed in the middle of the football pitch and Ádám György playing Chopin’s Storm etude (A minor, Op. 25. Nr. 11).
While György was contracted for only one performance, Hungarian referee, Viktor Kassai (and his Hungarian assistants) realistically hopes to be put in charge of several matches, especially after exemplary refereeing the Spain-Italy match, perhaps the highest profile encounter at the group stage of the tournament. Last year, Viktor Kassai refereed in the UEFA Champions League final and was voted as the world’s top referee for 2011.
