The fight within
MDF leader IBOLYA DÁVID struggles for her party’s independence
The leader of the Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) and one of Hungary’s most popular politicians, is fighting for her political life. And that fight is coming from within her own party. The most recent challenge to her leadership came from a group inside the MDF, called the Lakitelek, when its members called for her resignation. Dávid’s main political struggle is defending her rejection of a full consolidation of the two conservative parties, while positioning her party as a “true conservative alternative” to the more populist Fidesz.
